You can see just how much he's grown here because when we got him, he was about 4 inches long. (I think this is January.) That's about as long as one of my fingers. Now his head is that big...
And again, with my hand in the pic, you can see how big he truly has become. ...and he's only about half grown. And yes, he is still very sweet. As with all lizards, they must be obtained as babies and raised and socialized with their "person" or people.
As I read about the Savannah Monitor before we bought him (which is a very good idea with any pet), I knew that his number one goal in life was to try to escape from his home. That's normal. When he was first put in this enclosure, he was so small that he didn't even come up the edge of this full size loaf pan that we use for his water bowl. Now he can reach the top of the enclosure! But we have security measures in place so he can't get out...
You can see his full body here. You can also see his water bowl. The shoe in his enclosure is an old houseshoe of hubby's. Everytime we would let him roam around the house, he would always go to hubby's old shoe and climb right in it and stay there. After doing that several times, we just put the shoe in his house. He loves it!! It's like his "blankie" or something!!
Another way of knowing his size is to know that hubby's old shoe is a size 10.
Here he is going to get a drink of water.
After all the pics, Zibby says, "Aw, come on, Mom!! Isn't that enough pictures already?!!" :P Isn't he cute?! :D

He's like my cat, Lucky - always trying to get out of the house.
